Self-Managed Superannuation Funds (SMSF) Professionals' Association of Australia Limited (SPAA)

The SMSF Professionals' Association of Australia Limited ("SPAA") represents professional advisers who provide advice in the highly complex area of SMSF advice. They are committed to raising industry standards and looking after the needs of SMSF professionals across Australia regardless of their other professional affiliations or memberships.

SPAA's core focus is to raise the standard of advice provided by all professionals within the SMSF industry. The association is committed to promoting a high standard of education among SMSF professionals and assisting them to work within regulatory framework.

SPAA is the leading professional association for all SMSF professionals within Australia, including but not limited to accountants, auditors, financial planners, lawyers, risk providers, actuaries, administrators, educators etc.

Without doubt SPAA is acknowledged as being the peak body for all professional advisers within the SMSF industry in Australia.

Accreditation Program 
 
SPAA has developed the Accreditation Program to ensure professional standards are achieved and maintained for practitioners specialising in SMSF's. This is the first program in the Australian Financial Services Industry to offer independent verification and certification of a professionals' competency, experience, knowledge and practices.

Through accreditation, Specialist Members of the SPAA are able to demonstrate they have attained the benchmark set by the association and:

• Are recognised by peers as having comprehensive specialist SMSF skills;
• Have professional commitment to maintaining currency and compliance with legislation; and
• Are able to show professionalism in conducting services in the SMSF Industry.

Only General Members of SPAA are eligible to apply for Specialist Membership. General members may apply for the following specialist membership:

• SMSF Specialist Advisor® (SSA)
